Become a Senior Engineer 1, Substation Equipment Strategy at
Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In
this job, you'll be responsible for performing in-depth analyses
for each of the asset classes in your area of responsibility and
will collaborate across various organizations as well as immediate
team members to develop a comprehensive asset class strategy
encompassing all asset life cycle from procurement, design,
commissioning, maintenance, operation and final
disposition/retirement.
As the Senior Engineer 1, Substation Equipment Strategy , you will
also work closely with the Senior Manager to monitor and track
progress, obtain inputs from the Principal Manager, and report out
to senior leadership on asset strategies. Additionally, this
position will work with their counterparts in T&D Engineering,
Transmission System Planning, Distribution System Planning,
Substation Construction & Maintenance, Field Operations, Customer
Service, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, and other Organizational
Units. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of
the Grid Equipment Strategy division within the Asset Strategy
department, under the Asset Strategy and Planning (ASP)
organization.

Lead the overall substation asset strategies that would rank and
focus the company on the right asset priorities for investment in
capital and infrastructure replacement projects and programs across
multiple assets
Lead development and managing asset strategies for investment
program decisions.
Lead a team of Engineers and Advisors to perform in-depth analysis
and evaluate cost-to-risk buy down and cost-to-benefits for each
assigned asset class, and deliver a set of priorities for
investment focus
Serve as the lead editor for the development and implementation of
formal asset strategy documents
Lead and coordinate with the sponsor of substation infrastructure
replacement projects & programs for assigned asset classes
Communicate and collaborate with key partners in T&D and others
execution organizations to gather feedbacks and ensure buy in and
support for asset strategies
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
The essentials
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering
discipline
Seven years of Engineering experience
Experience in substation design, substation engineering, and/or
substation maintenance
The preferred
Leading and identifying gaps, implementing process improvement
initiatives and procedures
Experience working with cross-functional teams
performing/supporting technical analyses for decision-making
Experience in substation design, protection, construction,
commissioning, and/or testing
Experience with asset management and asset class strategies
Experience developing strategic technology plans in support of key
business objectives
Experience achieving desired outcomes and actions through
negotiation and influence
Experience in supporting General Rate Case activity (e.g. testimony
development, strategy and data request)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to
clients' business needs
Experience prioritizing activities, delegating, monitoring
assignments, and holding team members accountable for results
Experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal
employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to
develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in
Effective decision making, results delivery, team building, and the
ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
Proficiency with the following software tools: Microsoft Word,
Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft Visio
Strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively
manage stress and engage in continuous learning
Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work
practices
You should know
This position's work mode is hybrid .The employee will report to an
SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work
remotely on the remaining days.Unless otherwise noted, employees
are required to reside in the state of California.Further details

This position may require up to 15% travel across the SCE service
territory for site visits, with potential overnight stays.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position -
Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a
Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once
hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to
gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing
necessary job duties.
