The position of Senior Process Engineer is within our Toxicology business unit located in Pomona, California. This role will be responsible for identifying, verifying, analyzing and implementing process improvement and process re-engineering opportunities. This job description will be reviewed periodically and is subject to change by management. RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute inputs on a diverse cross functional/cross site team Work with contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, and engineers Follow phase gate process driving internal/external development resources from concept to release Calculate cost tradeoffs of various production methods to guide appropriate design Author validation protocols and plan validation activities Responsible for proper documentation of engineering work under design control/quality system Serve as technical contributor on development teams: make technical decisions, responsible for compliance to requirements, conduct design reviews, and assure quality of the design artifacts Serve as integration and test engineer for systems ranging from early concepts to product prototypes to initial production units Lead investigations related to nonconformance and support existing manufacturing lines/products Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BS Engineering or related field Five- eight years' experience in engineering or equivalent experience Experience in equipment sourcing, documentation development, and equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) Experience in process validation development and execution (process OQ and PQ) Experience in equipment troubleshooting Understanding of manufacturing and process stack-up tolerances Understanding of statistical tools and analysis (i.e., Minitab, JMP) Knowledgeable in Six Sigma methods (i.e., DMAIC, Ishikawa, 6M) Knowledgeable in CAD modeling (i.e., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) Work experience in a highly regulated industry; medical device Strong experience with MS Office Able to work on multiple tasks as a team member and/or ability to operate as an individual contributor Must be detail-orientated, self-motivated and available for flexible scheduling Strong verbal and written communication, problem solving and motivational skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in automation Experience in equipment repair Strong mechanical aptitude Quality system knowledge in FDA regulated industry (e.g. GMP, QSR, ISO and CMDR) Skills in programming to support reliability test implementation and execution Working knowledge in reading and deciphering electrical circuit diagrams and equipment drawings Demonstrated experience in the development, prototyping, testing and transfer to production of complex EO/Mechanical systems Experience in PLC and can strongly interpret wrong codes Tooling and fixture design experience Knowledgeable with vision system software such as In-Sight Explorer COMPETENCIES: Teamwork Driven for Results Initiative Communication An equal opportunity employer, Abbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
