Structural Engineering group within Southern California Edison
(SCE)'s Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit
(T&D), you will manage and provide technical leadership for the
evolution of the civil/structural engineering services supporting
electrical substation facilities. This position will focus on
providing design engineering, construction support, contractor
management, engineering innovation, work process improvements and
mentoring. As a Substation Structural Engineer 3, your work will

- Will perform engineering tasks as the substation structural
engineering lead and manage multiple projects at the same time
ranging from critical engineering projects to smaller projects with
many complex features.
- Will manage the evaluation, development, and implementation of
substation capital projects that have moderate financial and
operational impact.
- Will perform and provide direction for general civil/structural
engineering analysis, design, detailing, and Computer Aided Design
(CAD) supported drafting for Southern California Edison (SCE)
Facilities. This may include work in areas of site development,
grading, drainage, structural analysis, foundation, and structural
design, building design, and evaluation of new and existing
facilities.
- Will be a mentor to develop junior engineers, provide
structural engineering subject matter expertise and technical
leadership, and provide technical training sessions to colleagues
and business partners to build organizational capabilities
- Will be responsible to define structural engineering and
related work requirements, schedules, deliverables, to carry out
these activities, and to provide associated engineering
recommendations, reports and status updates for assignments.
- Will gather data, perform engineering analysis, prepare
calculations, construction drawings, and specifications, and
provide field supports during the construction.
- Will oversee design contractors' preparation of construction
documents, adherence to schedule, budget, quality control, and
support to field personnel and other internal and external
customers.
- Will interface with a wide range of individuals from
client/business partner organizations, construction, operations and
maintenance, peer disciplines, design contractors, external
permitting jurisdictions, and management
- Will travel throughout Southern California Edison's (SCE)
service territory to provide the engineering services as
needed
- Will perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by
management. Qualifications
The essentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, and/or Structural Engineering.
- Must possess an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with minimum eight
(8) years of experience in civil/structural engineering with
emphasis on Electrical Substation and Transmission system OR
possesses a Professional Engineering License in civil engineering
(PE) in the State of California with a minimum five (5) years of
experience in the structural consulting engineering The preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with a variety of
Civil/Structural Engineering principles, including structural
analysis, building codes, industry standards and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience creating and modifying engineering
drawings using computer aided drafting.
- Demonstrated experience working with teams on
technical/construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical consultation, plan
development and recommendations and evaluating effectiveness of
technical systems.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and
customer focus.
- Ability to facilitate the presentation of recommendations,
effectively present technical information, and guide discussions
toward the attainment of mutually acceptable goals and
outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information, make
recommendations and guide others' decision making by identifying
the anticipated benefits, consequences, & impacts of
alternatives.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be accountable for
individual results, and motivate self to set and achieve high
performance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate
with clients, peers, project personnel/sponsors, and others as
required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
AutoCAD or other computer-based design programs. You should know
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report
to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of
