better tomorrow. In this job, you'll be part of the Asset Strategy
& Planning (ASP) organization, which is responsible for developing
a portfolio of executable plans to ensure SCE meets its short- and
long-term company objectives, including improvements to our
electric grid to meet our goals in reducing catastrophic wildfires,
enabling a clean energy future, and designing the grid of the
future. In this role you will help establish and maintain a
consistent capital project planning and engineering initiation
process that includes critical input from multiple stakeholders,
including strategy and execution teams. You will work with
organizations across SCE to ensure our planning process efficiently
releases quality projects that align to the company's strategic
objectives. This includes identifying and addressing any
overlapping engineering scope across capital programs to minimize
or eliminate duplication of work during the project
planning/initiation process. This position will report directly to
the Manager of the Structures team under the Asset engineering
organization within ASP. As anEngineer 3, Structure Asset, your
work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create

- Partner and work with organizations across SCE! These include:
Wildfire Safety, Wire and Structures Strategy, Distribution
Engineering, Design Engineering and Work Management, Standards
Engineering, Asset Engineering, Enterprise Risk Management,
Integrated System Planning, Regulatory, and more!
- Develop and maintain engineering and construction standards,
technical specifications, design criteria, and other technical
documents.
- Work with subject matter experts to drive feasible solutions to
issues arising from codes changes, industry practices, standard
updates, and asset strategies.
- Perform engineering studies and analysis associated with
structural assets for underground and overhead transmission and
distribution assets.
- Work with various stakeholders in developing innovative
engineering solutions.
- Evaluate, review and approve engineering documents.
- Develop criteria for structural design of transmission and
distribution structural assets.
- Provide information and recommendations on projects to
influence investment decisions for the electric grid that have a
significant impact on the company
- Monitor status of projects and provide information to multiple
stakeholders, as needed
- Support efforts related to risk, including model development,
risk documentation, and support prioritization and/or optimization
of asset projects
- Creation of job aids and assisting with or leading training,
when needed
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities, as
assigned
- Mentor and develop other engineers within the team.
Qualifications
The essentials
- Five (5) or more years of experience in civil/structural
engineering design and analysis associated with underground and
overhead structures for electrical utility assets. The preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical fields
- Professional Engineering (PE) licenseispreferred.
- Experience using engineering software used in the design and
analysis of underground and overhead structural assets such as UG
structures, poles, towers, crossarms.
- Broad understanding of engineering design principles and
practices, codes, methods, and advance engineering analysis
- General understanding of risk assessment across multiple
dimensions (e.g., safety, reliability), as related to capital
investments for the grid
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to
stakeholder needs
- Demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the
ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous
learning.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations to both
technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint,
and Visio
- Experience working well under time constraints with ability to
self-manage priorities and multiple demands while maintaining
attention to detail and producing high-quality work with minimal
supervision. You should know
- Hybrid: this position's work mode ishybrid. The employee will
report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option
to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted,
employees are required to reside in the state of California.
