Subtransmission Planning at Southern California Edison (SCE) and
build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will manage the Southern
Subtransmission Planning team in Asset Strategy and Planning (ASP)
which consists of seven engineers and one intern. You will be
responsible for this team of Engineers who perform the technical
analysis related to planning of the Subtransmission System to
accommodate load growth and provide for capacity needs of new
generation resources seeking interconnection to the SCE
Distribution and Subtransmission System under the Rule 21 Tariff
and Wholesale Distribution Access (WDAT) Tariff. In addition, the
team also serves to provide for project sponsorship and development
of the non-CAISO jurisdiction Subtransmission system. The
Engineering Manager is responsible for subtransmission-related
activities, such as support for strategic objectives and
participation in related regulatory activities (e.g., General Rate
Case, Rule 21 and WDAT Tariff changes, etc.). As an Engineering

- Lead the Engineers responsible for the subtransmission scope
and projects for all levels of complexity, including licensing
support to accommodate load growth and the interconnection of new
generation energy resources
- Responsible for the development and growth of Engineers,
managing job performance and goals
- Drive the various activities to support the studies required to
serve load and interconnection of new generation resources, which
includes the annual Subtransmission Planning for load growth and
the Fast Track Evaluations, Independent, Facilities and Cluster
Studies and any other related efforts associated with meeting Rule
21 and WDAT Tariff requirements
- Serve as a company expert witness advocating the Company's
position at the CPUC on issues dealing with subtransmission
upgrades identified to be required to support load growth and to
support new generation interconnections
- Lead efforts in evolving tools and developing new processes,
such as adopting SCE Grid Modernization initiatives into the
subtransmission planning process
- Coordinate distribution support of corporate objectives, such
as the Wildfire Mitigation Plan, Pathway 2045, Transportation
Electrification, and other strategic assessments and implementation
Qualifications
The essentials
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or
Electrical Computer Engineering
- Five or more years of experience performing as an Engineer
and/or Supervisor in distribution engineering and/or electrical
system planning The preferred
- Five or more years of distribution/subtransmission engineering
experience
- Experience in the area of power system engineering analysis
including knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, codes,
and power flow software such as CYME, CAPE, PowerWorld, PSLF or
other similar software
- Power Transmission or Distribution systems planning/modeling
experience
- Experience analyzing and solving engineering problems and
making sound decisions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the
ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to
both technical and non-technical personnel, including internal and
external customers
- Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients,
peers, project personnel, and all levels of management
enterprise-wide to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder
buy-in
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a manner which results in
win-win solutions for all the parties involved
- Strong ethics and the ability to effectively manage stress and
engage in continuous learning You should know
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report
to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of
