  • A graduate from an accredited Nursing program and at least one year of work experience in a healthcare setting within the last two years.
  • A current Registered Nurse License for the State of California and free from disciplinary action.
  • A current BLS/CPR card with valid expiration date.
  • Successful completion of any and all PRN tests for the specialty area(s) in which the nursing professional practices were applicable.
  • Proof of fulfillment of the health screening criteria required by PRN and/ or client facilities indicating the nursing professional is in good health, able to work without physical limitations and is free of communicable disease.Knowledge:Requires detailed knowledge of the nursing practice and care delivery in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is to be done. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and incorporate them into the patient care plan.Abilities:
    • An ICU nurse should be able to provide nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
    • Able to keep their patients under close observation and administers prescribed medications and treatments.
    • Aids the doctor or other medical personnel in the assessment of patients and delivery of treatments, such as dressing wounds, and monitors the life support equipment that patients use.
    • Able to provide the patient's family with support as well as education on how to give care to an invalid.
    • An ICU nurse should also be able to give direction and guidance to other licensed nurses and nursing assistants in the ICU wing.
    • Able to draw blood from both a central and arterial line, as well as give medication.
    • Incorporates clinical and technical aspects of care with nursing actions and interventions in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures.
    • Able to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation.
    • Ensures patient confidentiality and the rights of the patient.
    • Ability to make decisions that are varied but are confined to situations which are familiar and specific to their specialty.
    • Ability to exercise choice in how work is accomplished with independence to operate within established policies, procedures and schedules.
    • To be able to comprehend the English language verbally and written.
    • Able to work on your feet and walk for at least 8 hours a day. Assumes and maintains various postural positions including but not limited to kneeling, reaching, bending, crouching and lifting. Repositions and transfer patients, and able to push and pull patients in a wheelchair and/or cart.Summary of Primary Functions:
      • Administers nursing treatments as prescribed by the MD using standard protocols.
      • Assists in orientation of new staff as requested and serves as a resource person and professional role model.
      • Documents nursing interventions and patient response according to hospital policy.
      • Carries out both physical assessments of patients upon admission to the hospital.
      • Initiates and revises the patient's plan of care based on continuing assessments.
      • Includes patient teaching and discharge planning in overall plan of care.
      • Responsible for assigning duties within the ICU and monitoring the telemetry.
      • Willingness to float to other areas of a facility in which the registered nurse is qualified to work upon manager's request.
      • Responsible for current nursing standards and supports PRN client facility philosophy and programs in order to maintain quality.
      • Perform all other functions as required.
