Master/Agile Coach Type: Direct Hire Rate: DOE Location: Pomona, CA
Summary The Scrum Master/Agile Coach helps teams embrace Agile core
values and teaches them how to apply Agile principles and
practices. The role is a highly visible as it collaborates with
various levels of IT and PMO leadership. The position is
responsible for coaching and developing teams by providing
direction, creating opportunities for engagement, and removing
impediments to support the company---s overall strategy and
objectives. Key Responsibilities: Facilitates and maintains
consistent and beneficial Agile Process methodologies within a
software development team by conducting daily standups, sprint
retrospective, sprint planning, grooming, sprint review ceremonies,
etc. Works with Product Owners and Stakeholders to identify and
clarify priority of project-related needs Ensures collaboration to
create an understanding of user needs and timely delivery of user
stories, wireframes, and other required artifacts needed for the
overall success of a project Works with the Product Owner to ensure
that the team's backlog is well groomed and actionable - defining
acceptable states of issues Helps determine and maintain overall
team velocity and capacity with regards to the team's roadmap of
projects and planning/prioritization Escalates issues of concern or
risk related to deliverables and can work with Stakeholders and
Developments Managers to address or mitigate such issues Works with
multiple teams in a Scrum Master role and is focused on the
successful processes and outcomes related to those teams Defines,
standardizes, and sets consistent processes throughout the
engineering organization Works with the leadership to focus the
team's work effort, addresses risks/areas of concerns, provides
feedback, and supports the health of the team Utilizes team
feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify
areas of opportunity and works with team to continuously improve
Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization
Coaches teams on agile cultures, values, principles, and practices
including agile product and project management and continuous
improvement Ensures Product teams understand the business, product
vision, and sprint goals. Develop and negotiate effective user
stories, acceptance criteria, and definition of done for the teams.
Coaches Product teams to ensure sprint backlogs are well managed,
commitments are adhered to, stories are swarmed, sprint goals are
predictably delivered, quality and performance expectations are
met. Works with the leadership to focus the team's work effort,
address risks/areas of concerns, provide feedback, and support the
health of the team. Collaborates with teams across the enterprise
to educate on agile principles, best practices, and tools to
improve productivity Works with Product Owners to develop release
plans and ensure product backlogs are deep, healthy, and well
groomed Core Competencies Required knowledge, skills and abilities
Demonstrate successful facilitation skills Ability to encourage
workers & leadership team to embrace Agile methodology
Knowledgeable in Agile scaled models Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills Well versed in adult learning methodologies
In-depth understanding of Organizational Behavior Strong executive
presence and ability to communicate with all levels Ability to
strategize and customize plans based on needs of the department
and/organization Required Education & Experience Bachelor---s
Degree (BA) in Computer Science or closely related field Minimum of
5-7 years of Agile experience Minimum of 5 years of experience as a
Scrum Master for software development teams Ability to instill
Agile values and make teams productive at any level of maturity
Demonstrated ability to coach teams in Agile methodologies such as
Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc Minimum 3-4 years--- experience with
Confluence, Jira, or similar Agile tracking tools In-depth
understanding of Scrum and Kanban Ability to provide continuous
guidance on Agile practices, techniques, and responsibilities
Ability to coach teams on Agile practices with the ability to help
them make the mindset shifts needed to achieve high performance
Preferred Education & Experience Scrum Alliance CSM or CSP
certification or PMIs Agile Certified Professional (ACP) Experience
