In this job, you'll be part of the Reliability Project Development team within Asset Strategy and Planning (ASP) responsible for leading technical/engineering efforts in support of major utility projects, such as pre-scoping activities, while looking for synergies and opportunities for project cross-cutting to maximize value. Coordinating and performing technical analyses for both distribution and transmission level major projects, you'll drive multiple aspects during licensing and construction in order to streamline and optimize SCE resources. As a Senior Engineer 1, Transmission System Planning, your work will help turn California's ambitious renewable goals into a reality, as you facilitate the necessary reliability upgrades required to accommodate new generation, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone.     • Lead, coordinate, and support various stakeholders from Engineering, Project Management, Grid Contracts, Environmental, and Land Management groups to develop major projects and their associated scope and cost.
    • Perform pre-scoping activities for reliability projects, such as defining project viability and alternatives and preparing project summaries.
    • Lead the preparation of core team-licensing documentation and coordination through the project initiation process
    • Perform steady state and stability analyses on SCE's Transmission system using GE PSLF and/orPowerWorld simulation software.
    • Perform assignments independently and lead cross functional technical teams.
    • Provide recommendations and implement action plans to improve Transmission models based on industry guidance and recommendations.
    • Demonstrate SCE's values and guiding behaviors as it pertains to safety, integrity, excellence, respect, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
      The essentials
      • Seven or more years of engineering experience
      • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering
      • Engineering experience with utility transmission and/or distribution planning studies and processes The preferred
        • Master's degree in Electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
        • Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences
        • Experience supporting the development of testimony for regulatory proceedings and environmental licensing
        • Familiarity with industry committees, subcommittees, working groups, and task forces as it pertains to Transmission and Distribution planning
        • You should know
        • This position's work mode is hybrid.The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
