  Join the Clean Energy Revolution As the Sr. Engineer1,System Planning Tools you will be advancing System Planning tools, data and technology strategy for Distribution and Transmission Planning stakeholders. Your primary role will be to drive the mid-term and long-term strategic roadmap for planning tool capabilities. You will orchestrate technical specifications into business capability requirements, coordinate integration between processes, standards and IT architecture and oversee the deployment of system planning tools. You will lead the assessment of new technology and drive the design of new applications to address process and technology gaps while improving planning outcomes. In this role, you will be directly contributing to advancing a High DER Future and Pathway 2045. Position overview
  • Develop data and tool long term strategic roadmaps for Distribution and Transmission System Planning organization
  • Oversee the translation of system planning business process, technical requirements, and engineering standards into business requirements for IT / Engineering Tool(s) Partner(s) and verify solutions meet Engineering requirements
  • Serve as the Consultant/Subject Matter Expert for all System Planning tools, data and processes.
  • Lead engineering assessments and identify process, data and technology improvement opportunities to improve planning processes
  • Support the development of new system planning business processes, technologies and SCE Standards Qualifications
    Minimum qualifications
    • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline.
    • Must have seven (7) or more years of technical experience in distribution, substation, and/or transmission engineering related to system planning, field engineering, and/or grid operations. Desired qualifications
      • Experience with power system transmission or distribution analysis tools, such as CYME, CAPE, PowerWorld, PSLF, EMS, ReGrid, and MDI or other similar software
      • Experience with Grid Modernization Release process and technology
      • Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers and project personnel
      • Experience with coding/scripting to automate engineering processes and data collection (i.e., SQL, Python, VBA)
      • Ability to explain complex technical concepts and deliver technical presentations to both a technical and non-technical audience, including external settings
      • Work effectively in areas where processes are not clearly defined, self-starter
      • Influence others and maintain positive working relationships
      • Stay current with relevant technology and innovation
      • CA Professional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering You should know Hybrid: this position's work mode ishybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
