Job Description Position: Quality Inspector Organization Unit: Production Department Accountability: Works under general supervision and reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. Job Summary: Inspects in-process and final inspection of precision spools and sleeves to customer supplied blueprint requirements. Utilizes inspections methods and measuring devices, verify dimensions of parts, and documents findings indicating results of inspections. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs visual and dimensional in-process, first article inspections to blueprint and customer requirements. Performs visual and dimensional final inspections to blueprint and customer requirements. Review of traveler documentation to ensure accuracy of quantities, revisions and buy-off of previous production activity and inspection. Complete First Article Inspection Report. Complete In-process Characteristic Check Sheet. Complete Final Inspection Report. Identify non-conforming product and communicate with the Quality Manager defects found to determine disposition. Buy-off parts that are conforming to Blueprint; sign and stamp off on the accompanying traveler. Notify Quality Manager when measuring tools are in need of calibration. Review of traveler and documentation of any special packaging and labeling requirement. Inspect parts to appropriate sampling plans and sample size. Responsible for keeping work area clean. Responsible for complying with the Company Policies and Quality System Standards. Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager. Expected to work OT as demanded by production schedule. Skills and Education Requirements: A combination of at least one year of direct training and or experience / OJT. Knowledge of Inspection techniques; Knowledge and interpretation of Blueprints; Knowledge utilizing measuring tools including but not limited to: Calipers Micrometers Blade micrometers Dial indicators Height gages Optical comparators Gage blocks Sunnen gages Air gaging; Knowledge of Calibration System to ANSI Z540; Knowledge of Statistical Process Control; Knowledge of AS9100 & ISO9001 Quality System. Inter-Relationships: Contact with all levels of personnel within the Company. Working Conditions/Environment: Office & shop environment, frequent standing.
