Assist with the preparation and delivery of procurement work processes, tools, and technology training. Analyze purchases of goods and services for opportunities to leverage spend, reduce inventories, and lower total acquisition and ownership costs.Major Job ElementsPrepare Request for Quotes (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP), evaluate bids, award agreements, and create purchase orders.Review bids negotiate more favorable prices and terms, and select suppliers based on total value.Actively identify cost reduction opportunities and negotiate proactively with existing supplier base and obtain more market-appropriate alternatives.Assist the Business Unit Procurement Manager with the execution of daily work efforts as needed. Provide back-up support for Sr. Buyer as appropriate. Assist in training new procurement coordinators including ongoing mentorship.Support the operations team about issue resolution and supplier quality score-carding.Role and ResponsibilitiesReview all purchase requisitions for completeness and initiate action on requirements.Monitor requisitions to identify commonly purchased items that would be candidates for volume agreements, Long Term Agreements (LTAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), or Price Agreements and make recommendations.Analyze market conditions; keep abreast of trends; explore sources of supply; study new products; and research departments' requests for all products, goods, and services.Work with Accounting and business partners to ensure POs and invoices match for payment and PO closure.Prepare RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and RFxs as required.Prepare Request for Quotation/Request for Proposal documentation for solicitation to selected bidders.Establish and maintain good working relationship with internal and external customers as well as suppliers.Establish and negotiate purchasing contracts and/or buying programs to attain the best overall value for every purchase.Work with operations to verify receipts of orders and resolves discrepancies.Work with Preconstruction/Estimating on client proposals and contract estimates as assigned.Procurement and contract information technology systems administrator and subject matter expert.Responsible for performance management of assigned suppliers.Identify, pursue, and deliver cost savings initiatives.Develop and strengthen relationships with preferred suppliers.Qualifications and Education RequirementsFour year degree in a business, economics, finance, supply chain management, or equivalent experience.Minimum 6 - 8 years of work experience in a corporate environment.Minimum with 3 - 5 years of buying experience.Demonstrated understanding of negotiation principles w/ability to develop and manage supplier relationships.Must have strong customer service skills and proven ability to effectively work with all levels of management.High proficiency levels with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.Technology aptitude and ability to learn new IT systems and processes quickly.Past experience with ERP and/or procurement systems is a plus, e.g. SAP, ARIBA, BravoSolution, Zycus.Preferred SkillsExcellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills (builds relationships) required.Able to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in changing work responsibilities and fast paced environment.Good time management skills and strong ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously.Ability to analyze problems and opportunities and systematically make short & long term improvements.Strong negotiation skills.Henkels & McCoy, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.
